”"The years I've spent creating lingerie. To telling stories through the written word, a fusion of reality and imagination. My thirst for meaning that led me to find my tribe in the worlds of meditation and healing, inspiring me to teach others. All come together in each design in the Siobhán McKenna Studio. My hope is that everyone who wears one of my scarves feels wrapped in the energy of a special place, lets its inspiration spark their imagination, their sense of individuality, yet connectedness."

SUSTAINABILITY
Based on my previous experience of buying fabrics and garments from the Far East, I have first hand knowledge of how importing goods impacts carbon footprint, water wastage, impacts of dyes on the environment and discarded clothes ending up in landfill. We always carried out factory inspections and all our fabrics were Oeko-Tex certified. We bought our raw materials from Europe where possible, and manufactured in our own factory in the Eastwall area of Dublin until 2006.
Siobhán /ʃɪˈvɔːn/ shiv-AWN Sio = Spirit Bhán = Woman
THE NAME
Siobhán McKenna (designer, author) was named after her second cousin, the legendary Irish Theatre actress, Siobhán McKenna. While many consider the name Siobhán to be the Irish version of Joan, introduced by the Normans in the 12th-century, the name goes back much further than that. The exact meaning shifts from Spirit Woman to White Fairy depending on who you’re talking to.
Spirit Woman beautifully captures our all-female team, our vibe and our customer.
GALLOPING HORSE MANE
THE LOGO
As well as being a beautiful animal, a horse evokes images of nobility, strength, independence and free spirit. Symbolically, the horse helps us travel to the world around us and journey to the universe within each of us. To look into the eyes of a horse, for me, brings great solace. Some people have said the logo looks like a leaf or a fern. That’s okay too as the natural world is the inspiration behind each design
